How many days do you need for a surf holiday at Famara
Three days is a good minimum if you want to actually feel progress in the water. Your first session is about getting comfortable on the board and catching your first waves. The second session is where things start to click. By the third, most people are riding waves with enough control to start enjoying it properly.
Five to seven days is ideal. You’ll have time to surf every morning, explore the rest of Lanzarote in the afternoons, and come out of the trip with a real foundation to build on.
Where to stay near Famara Beach
Caleta de Famara itself has a small number of rental houses and apartments that put you right on the beach. Waking up, walking fifty metres, and being in the water is a different experience from driving to the beach every morning.
For more options, the nearby town of Teguise has accommodation ranging from rural houses to small hotels, and is only about fifteen minutes from Famara. The south of the island has the largest selection of hotels and resorts, though the drive to Famara takes around forty five minutes.
Wherever you stay, booking early in summer is essential. Famara’s popularity has grown significantly in recent years.
How to structure your days at Famara
Morning sessions are almost always the best for surfing. The wind is calmer, the waves are cleaner, and the beach is quieter. Book your lessons for early in the day and let the afternoons take care of themselves.
After surfing, Caleta de Famara has everything you need for a simple, satisfying afternoon. Fresh fish at one of the local restaurants, a walk along the beach, or just sitting somewhere with a view of the cliffs and the ocean. Lanzarote has plenty to explore further afield too — the volcanic landscape of Timanfaya, the wine region of La Geria, and the art centres of César Manrique are all within easy reach.
